I have windows to replace in the near future. One patio window that needs to be replaced is 240 cm wide and 218 cm high. There is currently a wooden window of this size from the 70's in there. Now the vendor is telling me that he can only install it from two separate pieces for weight reasons. When I asked, he replied that for structural reasons he would have to use a window with 8-16-10 laminated safety glass. Could this be correct? is this really the thickness of glass necessary for a window of this size? Isn't 5-14-5 mm or 6-16-6 mm sufficient?
