Is it a good idea to run a heating cable around the perimeter of the facade between the insulation and the facing brick? Does anyone have this experience?

The masonry workers here advised laying a self-regulating heating cable in the gap between the insulation and the facing bricks. That if necessary could be dried masonry.
Has anyone done so? Cable is not cheap, I have doubts.
