This is the answer to the question What's an alternative window sill seal instead of silicone?
Revision 1
Silicone joints are maintenance joints and have no place in window installation. Not on the outside and certainly not on the inside. Sure silicone is often used on the outside, but it doesn't make it any better.
On the outside, sealing can be done with the so-called "Kompriband". In this case, a driving rain-proof, wind-proof, diffusion-open sealing tape that is self-adhesive on one side (on the window) and fills the entire area is applied between the window and the facing shell. Particular attention must be paid to a circumferentially tight design at the corners.
As an alternative to the stop from the inside against the facing brickwork, the sealing can be carried out by strips equipped with just this tape along the reveal.
