Terraces are one of the parts of the building that suffer the most, they withstand the most humidity for a long time, there are more temperature fluctuations and more drastic changes.
It is very common to repair patios by laying new tiles over existing tiles, but this is not the best or most durable method.
If your patio has leaks, shifted tiles, cracks, all of these can be quickly transferred to the new flooring.
The ideal is to remove all tile and installed insulation, get to the irregularities of the patio, repair them and lay new insulation, then tile with ceramic tiles that are resistant to changes in temperature, frost and humidity, and leave the necessary expansion joints, especially on the side adjacent to the walls that suffer the most.
I always choose unglazed natural porcelain stoneware.
