Do I need a membrane between timber and siding?

We decided to cover the house with metal siding. Tired of painting.

House of beams 150 by 150. We do not want to insulate, since the insulation will have to remake the basement. Can you advise whether to mount a membrane or wind-moisture protection between the timber and siding? Or just attach the siding to the beam?
