Does the sliding doors bedroom doors make sence?

Would sliding bedroom doors in a long hallway be convenient? The fire code seems to require swinging doors. By design it will be closets and can somehow beat it.

And the second question – a transom above the bedroom door for natural lighting of the corridor – is there any sense?
