Are velux flat roof windows really quiet and waterproof?

I had played with the idea of installing flat roof windows since our living area is on the upper floor. Has anyone had experience with the Velux flat roof windows for example? These are supposed to have rain noise dampening, do you really feel that or is that more marketing? What about the tightness?

Even with the normal Velux roof windows, you only hear the rain when it really pours down like from buckets.

I would find this rather diminishing in value, not hearing the rain. I would rather think of 100 other noises vos that should be muffled. My focus would be on sun protection.
