Aluminum windows vs. aluminum-coated plastic windows

We are currently planning to replace our 30-year-old wood windows (for design and air tightness reasons) and are now considering what type of windows to choose. We are hesitating between a "real" aluminum window or a plastic window with a matching aluminum finish.

In my layman's opinion, coated plastic offers the advantage of both worlds: cheapness combined with high durability and weather resistance. Am I wrong?

If you want colored plastic but not coated with aluminum, I would be happy to recommend coextruded colored plastic.

For scattering elements (e.g. front door, lift rails, etc.) I recommend aluminum.
