What do you do about midges and mosquitoes that stick to fresh paint?

Who, how solves the problem, sticking gnats and mosquitoes on fresh paint? Painting/coating at other times when there are no gnats is not an option, as the temperature is low at that time.

They come off quite easily when the paint dries

Apparently it depends on the type of coating. Last time there was a coating compound, and the midge left noticeable defects after drying and wiping off. And now I'm going to coat with oil and I don't want to have the same problem.
