Why do windows make a crackling noise in the evening?

There are 9 windows, profile Rehau Deling 70 mm, size – 1100h1400, the top of a deaf transom, 2 opening sashes and shutters. 5 windows are in the frame half of the house, 4 windows – in the half built from a beam.

Here is a problem with three of the four of these windows – when the sun hits them, and at night when it cools down there is a strong snap. Well, if you dozed off and the window made a "click" at the same time, the sleep is gone. Open or closed sash – it does not matter, I thought maybe the fasteners interfere, unscrewed all the screws (except the top), the result is zero. No trim inside, polished beam.

Anyone have any thoughts on this mess?

Are you sure these are windows? I've never heard of such a thing.

I think it's the wood that makes the sounds or the foam.

Maybe when the timber gave shrinkage, maybe a little warping of the jamb.

The problem is exacerbated by the black membrane on the outside actively absorbs infrared radiation from the sun warming the perimeter of the opening and the window frame and increasing temperature expansion and movement in the opening. Try to cover the perimeter of the opening with white opaque material such as Isospan A in strips 20-30cm wide.

The nature of the deformations is as follows:

1. PVC has a high coefficient of linear thermal expansion.

2. It also has a low thermal conductivity.

3. Therefore, the front walls of the house and street are heated / cooled differently, respectively, and expand differently. Therefore, when heating/cooling from the street side, the profile tends to bend towards the warmer wall: in winter towards the room, in summer towards the street. The greater the temperature difference, the greater the deflection. Actually, the so-called "fasteners": anchors, self-tapping screws, dowels, plates – serve to prevent these deformations perpendicular to the plane of the window. If there is not enough fasteners, then the deformation even with a dead reinforcement can be quite tangible. If there are enough fasteners, the deformation energy is redirected to the plane of the window by torsion. Then the determining factor may be the lack of support pads, poor quality of the foam joint.

Clicking can be many things: threaded fasteners on the reinforcement, anchor plates, poorly secured sills and window sills, the connection imposts.

Just install the window mount in accordance with the mounting scheme of the standard (taking into account all the dimensions given there and the placement of support and spacers, which some consider unnecessary) and foam well.

Holes for screws (MRS) should be larger than the diameter of these screws, and the cap to rest without interference in the reinforcement (ie, when closed reinforcement countersink PVC). It is better, of course, to use blinders.

Thank you all. Problem solved. Removed the windows, and installed a new one. I've been enjoying the silence for a year now. I installed them on the same fasteners. Apparently the problem was in the foam. What kind of problem I do not know. But I'm happy I got rid of it.
