My house under construction shows small cracks in the roof beams.

Are these cracks bad and should something be done about it? Or is it fairly harmless and normal?

There are always cracks in solid wood. There are calculation tables for that in wood construction. Your crack is far from critical.

This is a sturdy building beam. Such cracks are normal.
