We are planning a long stationary window element above the countertop in the kitchen. Right now, the architect has planned a parapet height of 1.4m. My height is only 1.60m. I like that the window doesn't start right at the countertop, but is this height normal or practical?

It's too high. In addition to the sill height, there is also the frame, which is not quite as thick with fixed glazing, but certainly 8 cm. We have 120 cm – ok for me (185 cm), too high for my wife (160 cm).

If necessary, you can also run a sill in front of the frame to keep the height of the frame.

Tip: put painter's tape on the wall or window at home to "test" it.

That would be too high for me.

We have 115cm. The window is 1.4×2.5m with fixed glazing. Add to that the 8 cm frame. I wouldn't do any less or it would be tight with outlets.

From the top edge of the countertop (90 cm) to the bottom edge of the sill is 20 cm.
