A private house, 2 floors, we build ourselves. The time has come to finish the facade. My wife and I think to stop at the facade tiles.

What to choose? What is better in terms of operation? What kind of tiles for the facade of the house? Can we do it ourselves?

My advice is to study for a general understanding of all existing options. And only then make a choice.

Natural stone facade tiles. The raw material is natural materials. It weighs a lot, so it requires special care when installing. Looks solid and has a unique pattern, but if you need to replace one or more elements it will be difficult to find a similar tile in color

Porcelain stoneware is a mixture of quartz, clay and feldspar. It looks like a natural stone, but costs cheaper. Easily withstands exposure to moisture and temperature fluctuations.

Concrete Facade Tile. Made on the basis of concrete, covered with a special paint. Imitates any surface – marble, stone, brick. Appropriate only for warm climates, because it is not resistant to temperature changes.

Clinker facade tiles. Produced from clay, different colors are obtained by adding dyes. It is fired in a special kiln at 1200 ° C. It is distinguished by increased wear resistance.

Agglomerate is a mix of quartz and synthetic additives. It has an increased strength, but is lighter than bricks and stone. Not suitable for load-bearing function.

Any of these varieties can be installed with their own hands. To do this, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work: clean the surface of debris and dust; level the walls – apply a layer of plaster up to 2 cm thick; wait for the plaster to dry and trowel the surface with a special brush.

For greater reliability, you can use a reinforcing mesh. It is mounted in the process of plastering the walls.
